A trip of a lifetime, for you and 14 other lucky Rainbow Divers, exploring exotic Raja Ampat. As stunningly beautiful above water as it is below, Raja Ampat (which literally translates as “The Four Kings”) has a startling diversity of habitats to explore. Each of these – from the stark wave-pounded slopes that drop away beneath the karst cliffs of Wayag and Uranie to the deep, nutrient-rich bays of Mayalibit, Kabui and Aljui to the “blue water mangrove” channels of Kofiau and Gam to the plankton-rich upwelling areas of Misool and the Dampier Strait – are home to unique assemblages of species that, when taken together, add to produce the most impressive species lists ever compiled for a coral reef system of this size.

The charter has been arranged to facilitate travel from the US west coast the weekend prior to the cruise and returning two weeks later at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. Pre or post-trip options may be offered at a later date.

Getting There

Don’t book flights without first consulting the trip leader. Most likely you will book a round trip to Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, or maybe even Manado or Makassar in Indonesia. From those you’ll book on a domestic carrier to get to Sorong (SOQ.) The Wednesday November 18 embarkation is arranged to make it possible to leave the west coast over the weekend and arrive into Jakarta or another Indonesian city by Tuesday afternoon or evening. Overnight or early Wednesday morning domestic flights will take you the rest of the way to Sorong. Direct domestic flights are much preferred over connecting, so your choice of international arrival port may be dictated by the most optimal last leg of travel. The dive operator has much experience with domestic travel and can assist in booking those flights.

Disembarkation will be early Saturday morning. Multiple direct domestic flights are available to start your journey back, making it possible to make your connection to an international flight and be home by the end of the weekend. Optional extensions to either Lembeh, Ambon, or Bali are being considered.

Payment plan

  • $800 at time of registration
  • $800 due October 2015
  • $800 due January 2015
  • $800 due April 2015
  • Balance due July 2015
Your final payment will be adjusted to reflect your cabin assignment. If you are assigned to a higher priced cabin than your stated preference you will not be charged the extra fee. This gives us maximum flexibility to accommodate couples, singles, and a mix guest gender when matching singles for cabin share.

Payments are generally non-refundable. If you sign up and your plans change there may or may not be someone interested in taking your spot. If you cancel without having made all payments it is your responsibility to find someone to pay your obligation in full. It is a very good idea to carry trip insurance to cover such an eventuality.

Trip payments may be made by PayPal or by personal check. PayPal will accept credit card payments, regardless of whether you have a PayPal account. The price is the same regardless of payment method.  Please consider using PayPal, as electronic payment greatly simplifies the work of our volunteers.  Please send PayPal payments to paypal@rainbowdivers.org

All divers on this trip should be comfortable diving in currents and have good buoyancy skills.  Divers are required to carry valid, in-force dive accident insurance, such as may be obtained from Divers' Alert Network (DAN).

Divers must agree to NCRD's Event Terms and Conditions to participate in this trip. Follows these links please:
