Often referred to as the "Mexican Galapagos", the Revillagigedos Islands of Socorro, San Benedicto and Roca Partida offer the big animal encounters that are possible in the eastern Pacific.
We'll board the boat in easy-to-reach Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, for a one day crossing to these islands to dive and interact with the friendliest giant mantas in the world.
Socorro is big animal diving at its best - dolphins, tuna, whale sharks (Nov-Dec), hammerheads, up to five other species of sharks and, of course, giant manta rays. They are known as the 'Friendly Giants' because not only do they measure up to 21 feet across, but they are famous and unique in the world for up-close and intimate interaction with divers. Shark sightings are also very good with sightings of silky, galapagos, hammerhead, white tip and silver tip sharks. Whale sharks are also a possibility in November, the beginning of the Socorro season.
The great thing about Socorro is that no two dives are exactly alike. Whether its a game of acrobatics with a dolphin, hovering in awe as a school of hammerheads fills your field of view, or simply being mesmerized by three or four giant mantas circling you, you're sure to experience that unforgettable dive that dreams are made of!
Some dive sites in the Socorro Islands can be challenging due to currents and blue water ascents. Call us if you would like to discuss the scuba skills you'll need to experience this diving adventure of a lifetime!
