A trip of a lifetime, for you and 21 other lucky Rainbow Divers, exploring exotic Raja Ampat. As stunningly beautiful above water as it is below, Raja Ampat (which literally translates as “The Four Kings”) has a startling diversity of habitats to explore. Each of these – from the stark wave-pounded slopes that drop away beneath the karst cliffs of Wayag and Uranie to the deep, nutrient-rich bays of Mayalibit, Kabui and Aljui to the “blue water mangrove” channels of Kofiau and Gam to the plankton-rich upwelling areas of Misool and the Dampier Strait – are home to unique assemblages of species that, when taken together, add to produce the most impressive species lists ever compiled for a coral reef system of this size.
The charter has been arranged to facilitate travel from the US west coast starting Friday night and returning two weeks later on Sunday, and straddling the Thanksgiving Holiday, giving some of you some extra days off without using vacation time. A one week pre-trip is also being offered, to exotic Ambon, allowing those with the Veterans Day holiday to add yet another non-vacation day to the trip.

Getting There
Don’t book flights without first consulting the trip leader. Most likely you will book a round trip to Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, or maybe even Manado or Makassar in Indonesia. From those you’ll book on a domestic carrier to get to Sorong (SOQ.) The Monday November 16 embarkation is arranged to make it possible to leave the west coast at about midnight Friday night and arrive into Jakarta or another Indonesian city by Sunday afternoon or evening. Overnight or early Monday morning domestic flights will take you the rest of the way to Sorong. Direct domestic flights are much preferred over connecting, so your choice of international arrival port may be dictated by the most optimal last leg of travel. The dive operator has much experience with domestic travel and can assist in booking those flights.
Those staying the prior week in Ambon for the pre-cruise land trip will fly from Ambon to Sorong on Monday.
Disembarkation will be early Saturday morning. Multiple direct domestic flights are available to start your journey back, making it possible to make your connection to an international flight and be home on Sunday.
